The average age of the fleet is less than 5 years old.
Independent Consultancy Service
Some time ago MLA recognised the need for a professional Total Fleet
Management consultancy service. Total Fleet Management is independant of brands of equipment, can evaluate clients materials
handling needs, recommend a cost effective and effective materials handling package, and can monitor, report and control the cost
effectiveness of materials handling fleet over time.
Fleet Audit
A Fleet Audit will provide a comprehensive snapshot of
the current fleet. During the fleet audit, MLA will:
- Identify the fleet profile and define vehicle application ratings
- Determine fleet utilisation
- Verify fleet size requirement based on equipment utilisation
- Interview Managers, Supervisors and Operators
- Assess operator skills
- Establish administrative procedures
- Establish maintenance and repair procedures
- Establish equipment maintenance cost targets
Cost Reduction Recommendation
After the Fleet Audit, MLA will present recommended improvements in
forklifts, maintenance, systems and/or facilities where potential cost savings may be realised
Examples
- Establish scheduled maintenance based on operating hours
- Improve productivity with driver training
- Improve product/material handling flow
- Facilitate improvements to reduce tyre wear or wheel damage
Implementation
MLA will implement service systems and controls to ensure 100% uptime and cost reduction:
- Accurate maintenance records
- Invoice review and approval
- Forklift pooling to serve emergency needs of multiple areas
Account Manager
MLA will appoint an Account Manager who will have overall responsibility and control over the
customer's fleet. The Account Manager would be responsible for ensuring good communication and quick resolution of issues as they arise. The Account Manager
will schedule quarterly meetings with the customer's management to review fleet status and cost reduction recommendations.
