MLA is continually looking for ways in which to remain competitive and to further improve the levels of forklift service that we provide to our forklift sales and rental customers.

As part of our objective to improve our service fleet utilisation, optimisation and efficiency, MLA has now installed the Navman Wireless GPS fleet management and vehicle tracking system on each of our forklift service vehicles across Australia. Incorporating a satellite navigation aid, this initiative has provided a number of key benefits to MLA, our staff and valued customers.

Improved Customer Service

By knowing where our people are, MLA provides a fairer distribution of work and easy allocation of the most suitable technicians and forklift parts to a job, determined either by work status or distance from site.

This allows MLA to respond more quickly to customer needs and provide more accurate ETAs for response. With vehicle tracking, if our field service personnel are running late for any reason, the team at our forklift sales and rental office can advise the customer in advance, further improving customer service standards.

Vehicle tracking also provides proof of activity, allowing field personnel to be backed up by factual data when customers query whether they've attended a forklift service call or how long they were there for.

Improved Productivity

Not only can MLA field technicians provide repairs faster due to ready availability of forklift parts, they are also equipped with a Navman satellite navigation system, so there is no more getting lost! Productivity is improved by ensuring the most efficient routes are taken and customer responses are carried out quickly and effectively.

Safer Driving Conditions

Vehicle tracking may also actively protect employees and provide safer working conditions. This is particularly valuable for lone workers in remote areas and field staff travelling long distances or to unsafe areas. Tracking ensures that if a forklift service vehicle enters unsafe sites or is unresponsive, office staff have real time visibility and can take quick action if required.

This data also enables managers to identify high-risk drivers who speed regularly and to then address such problems – and ultimately stop accidents through driver education.
